West Hartford Indoor Track Athletes Excel at Class Meets

Athletes from West Hartford’s Conard and Hall High Schools competed in the State Open Indoor Track Championships on Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016, after excellent performances in the class meets.
Conard High School girls indoor track athletes achieved some record-setting numbers at the Class LL indoor track championships on Feb. 11, 2016, earning several team members a chance to compete in Saturday’s State Open Meet at the Floyd Little Athletic Center in New Haven.
Conard sophomore Libby McMahon won the 300m at the Class LL meet, setting a new school record of 41.85. She finished eighth at the State Open, in a time of 42.20.
The 4×200 relay team of Taylor Davis, Rachel Massey, Clare McCrudden, and McMahon also set another new school record at the Class LL meet, finishing the race in fourth place with a time of 1:49.55. The team placed 12th at the State Open in 1:49.92.
Junior Gwen Geisler took second place in the 1600m at the Class LL meet in a time of 5:19.64. She finished 10th at the State Open in 5:26.61.
Conard senior Taylor Davis placed sixth in the girls 55m at the Class LL meet in 7.60, and took 11th place in the State Open with a time of 7:57.
In the boys Class L meet on Feb. 13, Hall High School junior Patrick Cassidy won the 1600 in a time of 4:30.56. Cassidy finished in sixth place at the State Open Saturday in 4:25.38.
