West Hartford Police: Bicyclist Injured in Thursday Night Collision with Vehicle

West Hartford police said the injuries to the bicyclist were not life-threatening.

An adult male bicyclist was transported to a local hospital for treatment and evaluation of injuries sustained after a collision with a motor vehicle Thursday night, but West Hartford Police said the injuries were non-life-threatening.
According to police, officers responded at approximately 7:40 p.m. Thursday to the area of 1555 New Britain Avenue – just down the road from Westfarms – for a report of a collision between an am adult male bicyclist and a motor vehicle.
Medical aid was provided at the scene to the bicyclist, while the driver of the vehicle, who remained at the scene, refused any medical treatment. Neither of the parties were identified by police.
The roadway was closed to traffic in the eastbound direction on New Britain Avenue for several hours while responders were on the scene and conducting an investigation, police said. The area of New Britain Avenue is near the borders of four towns – West Hartford, Farmington, Newington, and New Britain, and police expressed their thanks to the Newington Police Department for assisting with traffic direction during the road closure.
The road fully reopened around midnight.
