West Hartford Police Charge Man for Burglary Spree

Joseph ‘Willie’ Joiner was extradited from Massachusetts and charged in connection with a string of West Hartford burglaries.

A man with an extensive criminal history was extradited to West Hartford from Springfield, MA, on Monday, Nov. 24, and faces charges related to a series of burglaries in the Farnham Road area that occurred overnight on June 18, 2014, West Hartford Police said.
According to police, Joseph “Willie” Joiner, 55, of 256 Union St., Springfield, MA, committed or attempted to commit nine residential burglaries in the Farmington Avenue/Farnham Road area during the night of June 18, 2014. Police said that Joiner entered homes by cutting holes in screens and climbing through windows, as well as through unlocked doors.
He was linked to the crimes through DNA evidence found at one of the crime scenes, police said.
According to police, Joiner has an “extensive criminal history” dating back to 1975. He has been previously convicted and sentenced for 20 counts of second-degree burglary in West Hartford, 30 counts of second-degree burglary in Hartford, and armed assault in a dwelling in Massachusetts, police said.
West Hartford Police have charged Joiner with third-degree burglary and third-degree criminal mischief for the most recent West Hartford cases. He was held on a $50,000 bond and scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 25.
