Two days after a decomposed body was discovered in the backseat of a red Honda Civic in the parking lot of the Corbin’s Corner shopping center in West Hartford, police are still working to identify the body and determine the cause of death.
West Hartford Police Lt. Ted Stoneburner said Tuesday that the police are working with the Medical Examiner’s office in order to determine if the body belongs to Majid Yadegari, 44, who has not been seen since Aug. 11.
A missing person complaint was filed on Aug. 19 by the owner of Cellairis, a kiosk at Westfarms Mall, where Yadegari apparently worked.
An official from the Farmington Police Department stated Monday that: “The vehicle in the West Hartford investigation is the same vehicle that Farmington Police Department’s missing person was driving when he left the mall on Aug. 11, 2015. Farmington detectives are working with West Hartford detectives and providing any and all information to assist with their death investigation.”
The investigation also includes a check of dental recods, Stoneburner said.
The cause of death has not yet been established. Stoneburner said that investigators are still awaiting toxicology reports.
“At this point the only information we have is that it was a male that was taken from the vehicle,” said Stoneburner.
