A male suspect attempted to rob the Family Dollar store on New Britain Avenue on Thursday night.

A male suspect is being sought by West Hartford Police in connection with an attempted armed robbery at the Family Dollar store on New Britain Avenue that occurred on Thursday night.

According to Lt. Ryan Riley, police were notified at 9:44 p.m. on Thursday, July 31 that a man was attempting to rob the Family Dollar store located at 939 New Britain Avenue.

Police described the suspect as a “heavy set, short male wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black mask, gloves, and glasses.” Details about the weapon were not provided.

Police said there were not any injuries reported.

No arrests have been made as of Friday afternoon, and the incident remained under active investigation by West Hartford Police Department detectives.
