Many restaurants in West Hartford Center, as well as in other parts of town, had their outdoor dining facilities ready to go on May 20, and have eagerly welcomed customers to dine on patios or fenced-off sidewalk areas, with tables and chairs properly situated to accommodate required occupancy and physical distancing requirements and other public health safeguards in place.
Other establishments plan to open for outdoor dining – the only type of on-premises dining permitted in the state through June 20 – in the coming weeks.
Restaurants throughout town also remain open for take-out and delivery, and those that have outdoor dining will continue those services as well. Below is a searchable that now includes the availability of outdoor dining as well as take-out, delivery, and/or curbside pickup.

Restaurants that do not currently have outdoor dining can apply for a permit from the the Town of West Hartford. In addition, the town has unveiled a concept plan for expanding outdoor dining and retail capacity into rights of way and other public spaces, and those plans should be finalized shortly.
According to state guidelines, a response from the town to the permit request will be required within 10 days. More information can be found here.
