West Hartford Students Celebrated as CIAC Scholar-Athletes

Two students each from West Hartford’s Conard and Hall were among the 348 scholar-athletes honored at the 33rd Annual CAS-CIAC Scholar-Athlete Banquet.

Four West Hartford Public Schools seniors were honored Sunday night as the town’s high school scholar-athletes.

Conard students Nate Richam-Odoi and Marisa Haverty and Hall students AJ Speranza and Lydia Chelli, are this year’s recipients of the CIAC Scholar-Athlete Awards given to a graduating senior, male and female, with a GPA of 3.5 or higher, outstanding citizenship, leadership and athletic achievement. Each recipient along with their family, coaches, and administrators attended the CIAC Scholar Athlete Banquet on Sunday, May 1, 2016 at the Aqua Turf Club in Southington.

Richam-Odoi is a three sport student athlete in football, indoor track, and lacrosse, and is the captain of football. He will attend Bowdoin College.

Haverty is a two sport student athlete in swimming and lacrosse. She is the captain of swimming and lacrosse and will attend Assumption College in the fall.

Speranza is a two sport student athlete in soccer and lacrosse. He is the captain of soccer and will attend the University of Connecticut.

Chelli is a two sport student athlete and captain in field hockey and lacrosse. She will attend Penn State.

The honorees are chosen by the member schools and are submitted to the CIAC.
