The West Hartford Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of its music director Richard Chiarappa, will present “Something Old, Something New” for the opening concert of its 13th season.

The “old” includes Sibelius’ “Finlandia,” Dvorak’s “Slavonic Dances” and his “Romance,” featuring violinist Carin Wiesner (pictured).

The “new” includes music by two living, contemporary composers. Robert Wendel’s “Towers of Light” is an elegy for the former Twin Towers in New York City and the composer (in tuxedo) will be in attendance and speak to the audience.
