The Town of West Hartford is excited to announce an upcoming webinar focused on energy efficiency for local businesses and commercial property owners held virtually on Thursday, May 5, 2022 from 10 to 11 a.m.
This educational webinar is a joint initative between the town’s Economic Development Division, the West Hartford Clean Energy Commission, and the West Hartford Chamber of Commerce.
Steve Sack, owner of West Hartford-based Sack Energy, treasurer of the Elmwood Business Association, and a member of the West Hartford Clean Energy Commission, wanted to do something to help other local business learn about ways to cuts energy use and save costs in a time of rising energy prices.
“It’s just good business sense,” Sack said, after inviting West Hartford-based Environmental Systems Corporation, which does work under many of the utility-sponsored energy efficiency programs, to present at the Elmwood Business Association meeting earlier this year.
Kristen Gorski, Economic Development coordinator for the Town of West Hartford, indicated that this effort is another example of how the town is looking to connect local businesses to resources that could help them.
“There are so many great opportunities out there to support local business with energy efficiency that can help offset or even reduce energy costs. We find that energy efficiency is not often explored or implemented because business owners are either not aware of this information or the task appears too daunting. The webinar will break down the process into manageable steps and direct business owners to a program that would be most beneficial for their needs,” said Gorski.
Bernie Pelletier, chair of the West Hartford Clean Energy Commission (CEC), emphasized his excitement for the upcoming webinar featuring Eversource, CT Green Bank and Environmental Systems Corporation thanks to a new combination of partners – Economic Development, the West Hartford Chamber of Commerce, CEC and local businesses – stating that the CEC has itself has previously conducted energy efficiency-focused outreach with limited success.
Christopher Conway, president and CEO, West Hartford Chamber of Commerce, said, “Collaborating on programming such as this is a core principle of the West Hartford Chamber of Commerce’s mission. We are excited to be working with the town and the Clean Energy Commission to support our local businesses with access to programs, resources and potential solutions to address their concerns about energy costs.”
The webinar is aimed at helping local business understand ways to lower their costs and save energy. It will educate business owners – even tenants – about available energy efficiency incentives and utility programs, including options and benefits of typical energy upgrades. Speakers include Eversource Energy, the Connecticut Green Bank, and West Hartford-based Environmental System Corporation.

I would have appreciated acknowledgement of the speaker brought in to discuss the “mascot” situation at last nights BOA meeting.
Hi Mary. This comment has nothing to do with an energy efficiency webinar but I am planning to write about the visit by Chief Velky. The BOE meeting did not end until nearly 10 p.m. Tuesday night. ~Ronni
Thanks for reply..can you please explain webinar. Also while I have your attention, i feel it is time to remove the referenced tragedy in the “talked about” section. I’m sure this saddened her parents, relatives and friends and must open painful memories. Thank you for your compassion
In reference to my questioning the term webinar , it was not a term I knew, but did figure it out . Senior moment. I do hope you give thought to removing the “talked about “ article I mentioned. Thank you
