As part of the America 250 celebration, the Town of West Hartford is holding a ‘Flags of America’ showcase on Feb. 15.

West Hartford is excited to present a unique experience as we celebrate our nation’s 250th anniversary. This family-friendly event is held on Sunday, Feb. 15, 2026, from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Town Hall Auditorium. Admission is free and the event features:

• Witness the grand display of all 27 official versions of the American flag, from 1776 to the present. Learn when states were added and events happening in our country.
• Visit the American Legion 100 years of service exhibit.
• Free giveaways and door prizes are announced every hour.
• Children will receive an “I Love America” activity book and may participate in two craft projects.
• Learn how to display your flag correctly.
• Bring your old, worn American flag and learn how to retire it and dispose of it respectfully.
• Participate in a flag-folding demonstration and learn the meaning behind each of the 13 folds.
• Meet a Civil War soldier reenactor and hear his story.
• View letters from WWI soldiers on the front line.
• Learn the meaning behind the Pledge of Allegiance and the symbolism of the stars and stripes.
• Participate in a community sing-along, including “The Star-Spangled Banner,” “You’re a Grand Old Flag,” “America the Beautiful,” “This Land is Your Land,” and “God Bless America.”
