Once again, West Hartford Leisure Services is offering Yoga in the Parks, free all-level relaxation, run by local yoga studio West Hartford Yoga.

Despite the slightly soggy ground, more than 50 people showed up for this past Sunday’s “Yoga in the Parks” at Beachland Park in the Elmwood section of West Hartford.

This week was the third class for the Sunday group (there was no class on the Fourth of July), which began on June 20.  The class runs from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. and is taught by Jen Otte, an instructor from West Hartford Yoga who is in her first year teaching Yoga in the Parks.

Although the three weekly classes began a few weeks ago, rain has caused the other classes to be canceled.

In addition to Sunday’s morning yoga practice, outdoor classes, which are a collaboration with West Hartford Leisure Services, are also offered on Wednesday evenings from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Eisenhower Park (taught by Michael Michaud) and Thursday mornings from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at Wolcott Park (taught by Becca Barnard).

Thursday’s class is targeted more towards children and families, whereas Sunday and Wednesday classes are all-levels. Although free to attend, participants are required to pre-register for the class so that instructors know how many people too expect, and registration (click here) opens 10 days before the class date.
