West Hartford’s own resident groundhog will weigh in with his prediction on Friday as part of the festivities at the Groundhog Day Live! event at the Children’s Museum.
Cider will make his prediction for an early spring or six more weeks of winter at 9 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 2, in a Groundhog Day event that will also be streamed on Facebook Live for those who are unable to attend.
“The fun starts at 9 a.m. when our resident groundhog, Cider, will stir from his slumber, greet guests, and make predictions all morning long. Fun games, photo opportunities, and light snacks will be available,” states a news release from the Children’s Museum.
The Groundhog Day event is included with the price of admission to the museum.
Guests will also have the opportunity to learn about hibernation as they view the other animals that live in the Children’s Museum’s Animal Sanctuary. There will be live demonstrations of snakes, hedgehogs, and other animals, as well as a variety of available hands-on learning experiences.
A feeding demonstration in the Animal Sanctuary will take place at 3 p.m.
Snippets of Groundhog Day Live! will be aired on the Children’s Museum Facebook page throughout the day.
The Children’s Museum is located at 950 Trout Brook Dr., West Hartford. For more information, visit the Facebook page, call 860-231-2824, or visit the Children’s Museum website.
