King Philip’s Fourth Annual International Night was held on May 6, 2016.

The International Night Committee at King Philip Middle School, headed by Marisa Tamayo and Johannah Kosienski, held its fourth annual International Night on May 6 – an event that continues to grow and have a positive response from students, staff, as well as friends and families.

The event is a celebration of the diverse student body and staff at King Philip Middle School, proudly celebrated each year. The event saw a huge response from the school community, and an estimated 300 people “traveled” around the world, experiencing ethnic foods from all over the globe, learning new words in different languages, playing international facts trivia, watching delightful performances of folk and music groups, and finally, just having fun.

KP expects to gather even more people next year. There are 66 languages spoken among families in the West Hartford Public Schools, and for this event alone, 21 students of English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) proudly contributed in making informative posters of their home countries that were displayed during the event  – Guatemala, Tibet, Israel, Kyrgyzstan, Nigeria, Brazil, China, India, Venezuela, etc.).
