“Throwback Thursday” (#tbt) has become a popular feature on Facebook, Instagram, and other social media sites. It’s so much fun to see the images of our friends back in their elementary school days, photos of babies who are now in college, unfortunate fashion choices from the ’80s, and much more.

We-Ha.com takes its own historical look  back at the town with “Thursday Throwback.” We will feature images of people, places, and events in West Hartford, and we’d love to have your feedback.

We started off this feature last week with a photo that was tough to identify, but it was chosen because it was timely. Local history buff Rick Liftig chimed in right away and said he didn’t know any of the women in the photo! Mike Margolis guessed that the photo was taken at Mt. Saint Joseph. (Mike, as requested we are showing a larger version of the photo at the end of the article.)

According to the Noah Webster House & West Hartford Historical Society, these women were students at West Hartford High in 1903. They look a bit different than our kids did in the back-to-school photos we’ve seen in the past few weeks!

What do you remember about the place featured in this week’s photo? Do you know what is located in this space now? Or what other businesses have occupied the spot? Please add your comments below about the featured photo, and we will publish the answers along with next Thursday’s image.

Thank you to the Noah Webster House & West Hartford Historical Society for providing us with the images. For more information about the organization, visit www.noahwebsterhouse.org.

Easy Peesy – Butterfly is on that site now. HoJo’s ice cream was fabulous. I have fond childhood memories of their chocolate chip and peppermint stick.

I loved HoJo’s chocolate ice cream. Just the regular chocolate, but there was something special about it!

I worked at Marholin-Lane across the street, in the bicycle department, in the mid 1970’s. Used to go to Ho-Jo’s on my break and eat a whole pint of chocolate chip.

And thanks for the larger photos Ronni.
