World Labyrinth Day is an annual event sponsored by The Labyrinth Society (TLS). Every year on the first Saturday in May thousands of people around the world participate in this moving meditation for world peace.
Meet on the front lawn of First Church West Hartford in the center of town between 1 and 2 p.m. and walk at your own pace. Parking is available for free in the rear lot. The event will offer some educational materials about labyrinths and lemonade will be served. Finger labyrinths will be available for those with limited mobility.
At First Church, participants will “Walk as One at 1” to create a rolling wave of peaceful energy across the globe. No registration is required, and walkers can stay as long as they like at this family-friendly event.
The labyrinth at First Church was designed by Architect Peter Chow with brick pavers in the grass for visitors to enjoy an unobstructed and relaxing walk, or “moving meditation.”
The First Church labyrinth is Medieval 11-circuit style and is one of two public labyrinths in town. The other one is a Medieval 6-circuit Abingdon style made of cobblestone and compact stone dust, and is located at Holy Family Passionist Retreat Center at 303 Tunxis Rd.
