An International Holocaust Remembrance Day program was held in West Hartford on Jan. 28, 2018, commemorating the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau.

The program, hosted by Voices of Hope, was held at The Emanuel Synagogue in West Hartford. Ben Cooper, a World War II medic and Dachau liberator, was presented with the Chesed Award.

This award is presented by Voices of Hope to individuals who demonstrate exemplary acts of loving kindness.

West Hartford Mayor Shari Cantor and U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal were among the more than 250 community members who came out to the Commemoration.

Local teens personally presented red roses to the 25 Holocaust Survivors who attended and #WeRemember signs were proudly held up by all at the conclusion of the program.
