Voting will begin this week in the 10th annual “Best of West Hartford” competition – and while excitement will build for the celebration of the winners on Monday, Nov. 18 – this year the organizers have planned a secondary competition that will also serve as entertainment.
Local VIPs will be competing at the event for the title of the “Best Dancer in West Hartford,” said Tom Hickey of 2020 Media.
“In recognition of the 10th Anniversary of the Best of West Hartford, we wanted to add an entertainment portion to the awards night,” said Kelly Stangel, owner of the Arthur Murray Dance Studies in Bloomfield, Glastonbury, Vernon, and West Hartford, who suggested the “Best Dancer in West Hartford” competition.
The four couples will be practicing – training for the event by taking lessons – at an Arthur Murray Dance Studio of their choice over the next several weeks to prepare for the competition at the Best of West Hartford, which is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 18, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Mandell JCC in West Hartford.
The four couples chosen (each is being sponsored by a local business) are:
- Jah Jones of Lewis Real Estate and a surprise dancer, sponsored by Robin Gebrian of William Raveis Real Estate.
- West Hartford Mayor Shari Cantor and Victor Gonzalez of NBT Bank, sponsored by Jeff Hodges Landscaping
- Eric Feeney of Friends of Feeney and Zuliet Rivera of Juniper Homecare, sponsored by Lyons Auto Service in memory of Guy Carducci
- Dennis House of WTNH and Ronni Newton of We-Ha.com, sponsored by West Hartford Cleaning Services
Dancing with the Stars is being made possible by Northstar Wealth Partners, Arthur Murray Dance, the Jewish Ledger, and West Hartford Magazine.
