The League of Women Voters of Greater Hartford (LWVGH) and West Hartford Community Interactive (WHCi) are partnering to host a debate Monday night among the three candidates running for the 1st Congressional District of Connecticut seat.

Incumbent John Larson (Democrat), Republican candidate Mary Fay, and Green Party candidate Tom McCormick have all accepted the invitation to participate, moderator Carole Mulready of the LWVGH said.

“The candidates will respond to questions developed by LWVGH and from the participating Zoom audience through the Q&A function of the Zoom webinar. Each candidate will have a two minute opening statement,” Mulready said.

The debate can be viewed live on Monday Oct. 19, beginning at 5 p.m., on WHCi, Comcast cable channel 5 and Frontier cable channel 6098, and streamed live via YouTube

Those who are interested in participating as part of the Zoom audience can register to participate in the webinar by watching as well as submitting a question through the Q&A option. The Zoom link is: https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_MU00FlnhRYqAlb_YAjgW0A

The LWVGH encourages everyone to make sure they are registered to vote (click here to check your status) and reminds everyone that polls will be open on Election Day, Nov. 3, from 6 a.m.-8 p.m.

Directly following the debate, We-Ha.com will host a Facebook Live wrap-up conversation with all three candidates, one at a time. That event will begin at 6:30 p.m., and will broadcast on WHCi’s channels and YouTube. Viewers will be able to post questions through We-Ha.com’s Facebook page. In another special We-Ha.com Facebook Live event this week, West Hartford Town Clerk Essie Labrot will appear at noon on Tuesday to discuss the 2020 absentee voting process, and what to expect if you decide to go to the polls on Election Day. Click here for that event link.
