Christmas and New Year’s Trash Delays and Other Schedule Changes in West Hartford

Trash and recycling schedule changes will only impact those in the Friday collection area, but Town Hall and other Town of West Hartford facilities have adjusted hours due to the Christmas and New Year’s holidays.

Trash Delay in Friday area only

This year, the Christmas and New Year holidays fall on a Friday. The collection of trash, recyclables and bulky and metal waste during these weeks will start one day after the Friday holiday observance. For Christmas week, Monday through Thursday collections will take place on their normal days. Friday’s collection area will be done one day late, on Saturday, Dec. 26, 2015. Christmas week is a “A” week for recyclables.

For New Year’s Day, Monday through Thursday collections will take place on their normal days. Friday’s collection will be done one day late, on Saturday, Jan. 2, 2016. New Year’s week is a “B” week for recyclables.

Holiday Closings

Town Hall, West Hartford Public Schools administrative offices, and recreation facilities will be closed on Christmas Day, Friday, Dec. 25.

All three public libraries will close early on Christmas Eve, at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 24. All libraries will also be closed on Friday, Dec. 25 and Sunday, Dec. 27.

West Hartford Public Schools will be closed from Thursday, Dec. 24 through Friday, Jan. 1. Students return to school on Monday, Jan. 4, 2016.

Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, 2015 – Open 7 a.m. – noon

Christmas Day: Closed

New Year’s Eve, Dec. 31, 2015 – Open 7 a.m. – noon

New Year’s Day – Closed
