Laurie Salerno is very thankful to her neighbors for helping her daughter have a special birthday, even amid the need to maintain social distancing due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

One neighbor even wore a special costume.

“It seems like 5 is such a monumental age, that it was so strange to be celebrating my daughter’s birthday without our friends and family,” Salerno told We-Ha.com

“Her grandparents couldn’t come out with the cheesecake they’d promised to make, she couldn’t play with her friends. It was just amazing to have the neighborhood come out and show her that she wasn’t alone today.

“We are really fortunate to have the neighbors and friends that we do. Honestly, she didn’t entirely know what to make of the event – but I don’t think anyone else did either,” Salerno said.
