Acclaimed Guitarist To Perform Valentine’s Day-Themed Concert in West Hartford

Guitarist Daniel Salazar will perform ‘Romance de la Guitarra, an evening of flamenco and tango, at the Autorino Center at the University of Saint Joseph in West Hartford.

Romance de la Guitarra is a captivating concert lovingly conceived around the theme of Valentine’s Day. The program features Spanish classical guitarist Daniel Salazar and his ensemble of international musicians, guest vocalists, and dancers performing exhilarating rhythms and beautiful melodies of Spain and Latin America for a special Valentine’s Day concert, Wednesday, Feb. 14 at the Hoffman Auditorium in the Bruyette Athenaeum, University of Saint Joseph at 8 p.m.

Autorino Center director, Steven Raider Ginsburg says, “This show was literally brought back by popular demand. Weekly audience members continue to ask for Daniel’s unique Valentine’s Day performance. I’m thrilled, as always, to have Daniel Salazar back at the Center.”

For this special evening, Daniel Salazar has put together a program that includes beautifully crafted instrumental and vocal arrangements of Spanish classics, authentic Latin styles, such as Bolero and Argentine Tango and thrilling Flamenco-inspired selections.

All seats are reserved and the following tickets are available: Premium: $30; General: $25; Seniors, USJ Alumni, USJ Faculty/Staff and Let’s Go Arts Members: $20; Autorino Members and Students (Non-USJ) with valid ID: $15. About Daniel Salazar Bio:

Daniel Salazar was born in El Paso, Texas to immigrant Mexican parents who instilled a deep love for music.  He grew up surrounded by a close knit extended family, immersed in the cultural traditions of his Mexican and Spanish heritage within the bi-cultural environment of the United States border with Mexico. He received a Bachelor of Music Degree from the University of Texas, holds a Master of Music Degree from the prestigious Hartt School of Music at the University of Hartford, Connecticut, and also studied guitar in Spain.

Salazar has performed in master classes with illustrious classical guitar maestros and considers Oscar Ghiglia, Christopher Parkening, Pepe Romero, Leo Brouwer and Manuel Barrueco as most influential. He is a long time resident of Hartford and is on the faculty at The University of Connecticut and the Greater Hartford Academy for the Arts. With his international performances, distinctive repertoire, dynamic original music and arrangements of Spanish classics for guitar and orchestra, Daniel Salazar continues to expand the guitar’s repertoire while introducing new audiences to the beautiful sound of the Spanish classical guitar.
