American Legion Post 96 Honors West Hartford Students

West Hartford’s American Legion Hayes-Velhage Post 96 has announced its 2017 School Award recipients.

American Legion Hayes-Velhage Post 96 has awarded its 2017 School Awards. The award is presented in “Recognition of the possession of those high qualities of Courage, Honor, Leadership, Patriotism, Scholarship and Service which are necessary to the preservation and protection of the fundamental institutions of our government and the advancement of society.”

The American Legion School Awards for 2017 were presented to the following students:

Hall High School, Medal/Certificate Lucas Booth; Honorable Mention, Emma Chozick

Conard High School, Medal/Certificate, Carly Gorman; Honorable Mention, Ruth Tian

Northwest Catholic High School, Medal/Certificate, Mitchell Karangekis; Honorable Mention, Christopher Ravosa

American School for Deaf, Medal/Certificate, Hector Carrion; Honorable Mention, Esdras Leiv

King Philip Middle School, Medal/Certificate, Ethan Chandler; Honorable Mention, Rylie Dagnall

Bristow Middle School, Medal/Certificate, Joseph LoSada; Honorable Mention, Arianna Fandozzi

Sedgwick Middle School, Medal/Certificate, Rushil Yerrabelli; Honorable Mention, Tejal Nair.

The American Legion was founded in 1919 on the Four Pillars of a strong national security, veterans affairs, Americanism, and youth programs. With a current membership of over 2 million wartime veterans, Legionnaires work for the betterment of their communities through more than 14,000 posts across the nation. The American Legion Hayes-Velhage Post 96 of West Hartford has been serving our Veterans and the community for 95 years.
