Autism Families CONNECTicut (AFC) will host its 8th Annual Anniversary fundraising event, “A Sparkling Celebration” on Saturday, April 21, at the Simsbury Inn, Simsbury, from 7 to 11 p.m., including the Stargazer After-Party from 10 to 11 p.m. The event will benefit AFC’s recreational, social and family activities for children, teens and young adults on the autism spectrum. Ticket price is $75.

The Celebration will feature creative food and cocktails, music and exciting silent and live auction items with light dancing afterwards. The Honorary Chair of the event is Tizziana Weber, director of Communications at Pratt & Whitney, which is also the premiere event sponsor. Leah Moon, Board president of AFC is the event co-chair.

Special celebrity guest Wayne Carini, host of Velocity Channel’s Chasing Classic Cars, and owner of Connecticut-based F40 Motorsports, along with his wife Laurie, will attend this year’s event.

Nicole Nalepa, Channel 3 Eyewitness News, is the guest host. Entertainment and dance music for the Stargazer After-Party will be provided by radio personality and wellness coach John “Cadillac” Saville of 92.5 FM.

“Individuals on the autism spectrum deserve programs that foster a sense of belonging and the support of a loving community. We strive to promote a healthy, meaningful life for our participants, one that emphasizes recreation, fun and friendships. Without AFC’s programs for children, teens and young adults, families would not have access to these opportunities,” said Moon.

AFC ‘s programs include Playing on the Spectrum gym and sports program, Teen Social Nights, Running Club, Building on the Spectrum, Young Adult Hangouts and the annual Family Holiday Party and Beach Days.

All tickets are $75 per person. Tickets are available at www.autismfamiliesct.org or by sending a check to AFC, P.O Box 370162, West Hartford, CT 06137. For more information, email [email protected].
