Autism Families CONNECTicut (AFC) will host its 5th Anniversary fundraising event, “A Sparkling Celebration” onSaturday, March 21 at the Simsbury Inn, Simsbury, from 7 to 11 p.m.  The event will benefit AFC’s recreational, social and family activities for children and teens on the autism spectrum.

The Celebration will feature fabulous food and cocktails, music and dancing, and exciting silent and live auction items. The Honorary Chair of the event is Tizz Weber, Director of Communications at Pratt & Whitney, while the presenting sponsor is Pratt & Whitney.  Nicole Nalepa, Channel 3 Eyewitness News, will be the Guest Host, and entertainment will be provided by radio personality and DJ John “Cadillac” Saville.

“All funds raised during this event stay in our local community, and benefit programs to provide exercise, recreation, and friendship to children with autism who are often unable to participate in mainstream activities,” said Leah Bailey Moon, AFC founder and board president.

AFC provides programs for children and teens on the autism spectrum, and their families, including the popularPlaying on the Spectrum gym and sports program, Teen Social Nights, Running Club, Swimming on the Spectrum, Lego Club and the annual Family Holiday Party.  All programs are designed to meet the unique needs of children with autism, and emphasize fun, exercise, and the opportunity to CONNECT to other children, families, and the community.

Tickets purchased by March 1 are $65 each or two for $120. After March 1 tickets will be $75. Tickets are available at www.autismfamiliesct.org or by sending a check to AFC, P.O Box 370162, West Hartford, CT 06137.  For more information, email [email protected].
