The open auditions for Ballet Theatre Company’s spring production will be held Saturday in West Hartford.
Ballet Theatre Company (BTC) is thrilled to announce auditions for their spring performance of “Sleeping Beauty” taking place on Saturday, Jan. 12 at BTC’s studios, 20 Jefferson Ave., West Hartford, CT.
All community dancers ages 6-18 interested in auditioning should visit www.dancebtc.org to determine their appropriate audition time slot and to register.
All auditionees will also be required to submit a headshot size 4×6 (girls should have their hair pulled back into a bun), $20 audition fee with checks payable to BTC, and come prepared wearing appropriate ballet attire. Girls’ attired includes a leotard, pink tights, pink ballet shoes, and hair secured into a tight neat bun. Boys’ attire includes black ballet tights or leggings, a white T-shirt, and black ballet shoes.
“Sleeping Beauty,” a historic and beloved fairytale with original score written by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and first performed in 1890, has stood the test of time as an audience favorite and is still performed by ballet companies all around the world. This season, BTC celebrates their 20th anniversary of bringing professional caliber ballet performances to the Greater Hartford area, and what better ballet to present than this long-standing favorite.
Performances will take place at the University of Saint Joseph Hoffman Auditorium on Saturday, May 4, at 1 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. and Sunday, May 5, at 1 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Be sure to mark your calendars for a weekend of pristine beauty, mystical fairytale magic, and true love’s first kiss.
