Bugbee Elementary, on Asylum Avenue in West Hartford, warned parents of bear sightings.

In a letter sent to parents this week, Bugbee Elementary School administrators alerted their community of recent bear sightings near the path at the south side of the school. The path goes through a wooded area that opens up to Brookside Drive and is used by many families on the way to and from school.
As of Tuesday, students were not allowed to use the path to walk home and will not be permitted to use it until further notice.
West Hartford Police are providing assistance in the area.
