b Restaurants is hosting a ‘Burger and Beer Community Combo-tition’ at locations throughout the region, including West Hartford, where funds are being raised for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

To celebrate National Burger Month (May), as well as their ongoing commitment to the communities in which they serve, b Restaurants announces the “Burger and Beer Community Combo-tition”!
b Restaurants located in Connecticut and Massachusetts have created a burger and beer pairing to help support local nonprofits in their communities. Virginia and Washington, D.C. b Restaurants will be competing in a separate challenge to benefit their local charities.

Each participating location has partnered with a local foodie celebrity, selected a beer from one of their favorite breweries, and designated a local charity. West Hartford’s celebrity is Firefighter of the Year Robert Howe, who will be raising money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). He has created the “Engine 1’s Slow Burn Burn Burger,” a 50/50 pork and beef patty on a toasted pretzel roll with crispy porchetta, pineapple salsa, pickled red onion, and ghost pepper aioli. Howe’s burger is paired with Long Trail Green Blaze.
b west Hartford is located at 138 Park Rd.
Other celebrities, including Fox61’s Sean Pragano, Nick O’Malley from Mass Live, and more have designed their very own burgers to compete head to head and raise funds for organizations in need.
From April 26 to May 7, 10 percent of each location’s burger and beer pairing will be donated to their chosen charity. Performance of the pairings will be tracked in four categories: total sales, highest percentage of celebrity burger to total burgers sold, social media engagement and a “no purchase necessary” vote.
On May 8, the winning beer pairing across all categories will be announced. From May 12-June 4, the winning burger will be featured on every b Restaurant menu, with the winning team’s charity receiving the 10 percent donation from all seven restaurants.
