The Children’s Museum in West Hartford Will Have a ‘Starry Safari’ for Astronomy Day

The Children’s Museum in West Hartford, Connecticut will celebrate National Astronomy Day on Saturday, May 14, 2016 with special activities and programs that bring astronomy to even the youngest astronomers.

On May 14, visitors will explore the universe on a “Starry Safari”! Activities include hunting moon phases, trailing shadows, connecting animals in the Wildlife Sanctuary with their constellation counterparts, story time reading safari, and “camping out under the stars” in the planetarium. Weather permitting, outdoor activities include stalking the sun safely (solar viewing) and making yourself into a constellation. The starry safari activities are designed for young children and families.

With the exception of planetarium shows, all Astronomy Day activities are included with general admission on Astronomy Day. Museum hours on Astronomy Day are 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Admission to The Children’s Museum is $14.75 for adults, $13.75 for seniors (63+), $13.75 for children (2-12) and free for children under age 2.

The Children’s Museum and Roaring Brook Nature Center are the region’s premiere destinations for exploration and education. Home to over 100 live animals, the Museum features hands-on exhibits, out-ofthis-world digital planetarium shows, and programs for young children and families. The Children’s Museum and Preschool are located at 950 Trout Brook Dr. in West Hartford and Roaring Brook Nature Center is located at 70 Gracey Rd. in Canton.
