Trash and recycling will be delayed by one day for residents in Friday collection areas, and Town of West Hartford facilities have adjusted hours due to the Christmas and New Year’s holidays.

Christmas Day and New Year’s Day are federal holidays and will be observed on Friday, Dec. 25, 2020, and Friday, Jan. 1, 2021.
Pickup of trash, recycling, and metal will be changed for those in the Friday collection area only for the weeks that include Christmas and New Year’s.
Trash, recycling, and metal collections that typically take place on Friday will take place on Saturday for both of those weeks.
Christmas week is a “B” week for recycling and New Year’s week is an “A” week.

Town Facilities
Many town facilities remain closed due to COVID-19, but those that have reopened – including certain operation s at Town Hall, recreation facilities, the Yard Waste and Recycling Center, and all library branches will be closed on Friday, Dec. 25, 2020 for the Christmas holiday and Friday, Jan. 1, 2021 for the New Year’s holiday.
On Christmas Eve (Dec. 24) and New Year’s Eve (Dec. 31), all three libraries will close at 4:30 p.m.
Town Hall will be open by appointment only on both Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
Beginning Dec. 26, 2020, the Yard Waste and Recycling Center will be closed on Saturdays. Saturday hours will resume on April 3, 2021.

Public skating sessions at Veterans Memorial Rink has been temporarily suspended.
- Thursday, Dec. 24, 6 a.m.- 2 p.m.
- Friday, Dec. 25, closed
- Thursday, Dec. 31, 6 a.m.- 2 p.m.
- Friday, Jan. 1, closed
While the Rockledge Golf Course has closed for the season, the Golf Shop at Rockledge is open for holiday gift shopping. Gift certificates, golf clubs, apparel, and more are available, and the shop will be open Christmas Eve from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Walking trails are open to the public.
West Hartford Public Schools are closed for winter break from Dec. 24, 2020 through Jan. 3, 2021, and are scheduled to reopen on Jan. 4, 2021.
