Although most of the leaves are still on the trees and Halloween is the closest holiday on people’s minds, the members of the Children’s Charity Ball Committee are focused on a date several months in the future.

Planning has been underway in earnest since September for the Bridge Family Center’s annual fundraising gala, scheduled for Jan. 23, 2016, at the Hartford Golf Club, and the committee has been meeting every week to take care of all the details.

This year’s black-tie gala will have a “peacock” theme, with the tag-line “Show Your True Colors.” The theme will connect to the Bridge’s mission of serving youth and families, and to success stories that are shared during the evening’s program.

Decorations will follow a teal color scheme with elegant gold accents.

Honorary chairs for the event are West Hartford residents Matt Winter of Allstate Insurance Company and his wife, Jane Lehman.

The event will include a cocktail reception, sit-down dinner, live and silent auctions, and dancing to the music of the Timmy Maia Band.

There will also seven special baskets created by committee members based on the event’s theme. Some already planned are “Spread Your Wings and Fly,” “Birds of a Feather,” “Strut Your Stuff,” and “Feather Your Nest.”

Last year’s gala raised more than $240,000 to support the Bridge’s mission. For more information about the Bridge or to inquire about the the 2016 gala, contact Judy Bierly or call 860.521.8035, ext. 322.
