Join root2RISE, along with local farmers, educators, and artists, on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2024, from 10 a.m. to noon at the West Hartford Town Hall parking lot for the Community Farm Share Event (CFSE).
Through hands-on investigations into nature journaling and worm composting, a cooking demo, panel discussion, and more, participants will explore important questions: What is a sustainable and just food system? What could it look like in our community?
root2RISE is a local, non-profit organization that is committed to cultivating relationships between people, land and food. Through intentional education, advocacy and action, root2RISE works to provide space for conversations rooted in place, culture, and community. The organization believes equitable access to land and healthy food leads the transformation toward resilient and sustainable communities.
“Making space for conversations about food, land, and community has the potential to reconnect people to themselves and the living world around them,” said Nakia Alexander, co-director. “We believe that everyone deserves to feel a sense of belonging to the land.”
The CFSE is inspired by the concept of Community Sponsored Agriculture (CSA) and this fall everyone is invited to celebrate the season of harvest and all that comes from the land around us. root2RISE is once again offering advance ordering of Farm Shares featuring a selection of fresh, local veggies, apples, herbal tea samples, native plant seedlings, and more – providing a delicious way to support local agriculture.
If you eat and care about where your food comes from, this is an event you won’t want to miss!
