Conard boys soccer (8-7-2) defeated West Haven (10-4-2) in the first round of the Class LL Tournament, 1-0.

Conard played a solid first half Tuesday despite the challenges of glare from the sun and the wind against them. Goalkeeper Aaryan Daswani made several excellent saves, and at halftime, the score was 0-0.

Luke Wadsworth scored with 16 minutes left to play in the second half, assisted by Kevin Rivas.

West Haven couldn’t break through Conard’s defense, and the game ended 1-0 in regular time.

By beating West Haven, ranked 11th in the Class LL standings, the Chieftains advance to round two and will travel to face No. 6 seed Staples (10-1-4) on Thursday at 2 p.m.
