Conard Takes Home Mayor’s Cup in Softball Win Over Hall

Conard defeated Hall on Tuesday afternoon in the Third Annual Mayor’s Cup softball game at the University of Hartford.

The Conard softball team took on crosstown rival Hall on May 26, 2015 in the Third Annual West Hartford Mayor’s Cup softball game at the University of Hartford, and brought home the trophy following a 18-0 win.

Conard (11-8) was led by junior catcher Sarah Hamilton, who was 3 for 4 at the plate with a pair of triples, four runs scored and three RBI. Senior Daija Merced added a pair of hits in three at bats, and drove home two runs.

Junior pitcher Bridget Garach had the first no-hitter of her high school career, posting seven strikeouts in five innings.

The game was sponsored by the West Hartford Amateur Softball League.

Conard will face Bristol Central at home on Wednesday, May 27, before beginning state tournament play next week.

Hall (2-16) has completed the season.
