Thursday’s Conard vs. Hall varsity girls lacrosse game ended in a 11-7 victory for Conard, following on the heels of the Conard boys 15-7 win against Hall the same afternoon.

According to Conard Head Coach Megan Cersosimo, playing Hall is always a huge game, and the win was special with Conard playing such a strong team.

“Hall is a great team, they are well-coached, and this a great rivalry,” said Cersosimo.

The scene was set for Conard with the first goal of the game scored by senior, Tessa Sinatro (#4). This was followed up by another goal from Conard by junior Sarah Mahon (#18), assisted by sophomore Maya Feigenbaum (#26).

The first goal for Hall was scored by sophomore Cammie Cho (#15).

At the end of the first half the score was tied 3-3.

The second half opened with a Conard goal scored by sophomore Gwen Geisler (#1) assisted by Sinatro (#4). This was followed by a Hall goal scored by Cho (#15).

There were a number of back-to-back goals made by the same players. Conard junior Marisa Haverty (#11) made two consecutive goals from a free position. Conard junior Kiley Phelan (#9) made two back to back goals, the first one assisted by Geisler (#1).

The final score of the game was 11-7 in Conard’s favor.

Conard’s leading scorer was Geisler with four goals. Hall had two leading scorers, senior captain Mackenzie Molodetz (#3) and Cho (#15), each whom scored two goals.

According to Hall’s Head Coach, Meg Chaplin, Hall gave it their all on the turf. “We took our team to the level we wanted to go but we couldn’t keep it up for 50 minutes,” said Chaplin.

However, Chaplin is feeling confident about how Hall (8-7) will perform as they enter into state championship play. “We’re a big defending team. We’re a very fast team,” Chaplin said. “We’re feeling pretty good about going into states.”

Conard (12-3) cannot celebrate their win too long, as they have to prepare for their game against another town rival, Northwest Catholic, before going to states.

However, very few rivalries compare to that of Conard and Hall. For that reason, Thursday’s win means a lot to Conard.

As Cersosimo said, “It’s not just your average victory.”
