Congregation Beth Israel is celebrating Pride Month with a flag raising on Sunday, May 31 in the evening that can be viewed virtually (visit www.cbict.org) and will also hold a Virtual Pride Shabbat service on June 26 at 7:30 p.m.

The flag ceremony will take place in front of the synagogue at 701 Farmington Ave. in West Hartford with a short service including the congregation’s clergy and leaders. The event is not open to the public, but can be viewed on FB and their website.

The flag will fly for the whole month of June.

During the June 26 virtual service, CBI will honor the movement for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer equality and inclusion while celebrating LGBTQ+ Jews and the intersection of Jewish identity and LGBTQ+ identity.

Congregation Beth Israel is a Reform Jewish synagogue of over 700 families, tracing its history to 1843, when Jews were first given the legal right to establish a synagogue in the state of Connecticut. Today, Congregation Beth Israel is a welcoming community where people of all ages and backgrounds can deepen their spirituality and engagement in the world through prayer, celebration, learning, and efforts to repair the world.
