Misinformation around immigration and elections undermines public trust by encouraging people to accept accusations before facts, according to Secretary of the State Stephanie Thomas.

Thomas and Gov. Ned Lamont condemned what they called the reckless spread of false election claims that led to a New Britain woman being publicly misidentified as an undocumented immigrant, falsely connected her to a fatal crash and wrongfully accused her of illegally registering to vote.
