The fifth annual “Feast on the Farm” dinner has become one of West Hartford’s signature events, and this year will highlight locally-grown produce and other food products at a four-course meal served al fresco under a tent at Westmoor Park.

The evening will begin with hors d’oeuvres provided by Russell’s Creative Global Cuisine, followed by a candle-lit, four-course meal created and prepared by DORO Restaurant Group noted chefs Dorjan Puka, Scott Miller, and Omar Arnaout. The event is BYOB.

Proceeds from this year’s event will provide funding so that the renovation of Westmoor Park’s vintage barn can be completed.

“Tens of thousands of visitors enjoy this ecological gem each year,” said Director of Leisure and Social Services Helen Rubino-Turco. “Westmoor Park is a little oasis of tranquility in the midst of a densely populated town. You can just feel your stress level drop when you enter the grounds.”

Westmoor Park is open to the public, and although owned by the town is completely self-supporting. According to Rubino-Turco, half of the operating expenses are paid through the trust fund that was donated to the Town of West Hartford along with the property in 1974, while program revenue covers the balance of operating expenses.

The Feast on the Farm funds special capital improvements, like the remaining work needed on the barn, she said.

The event, which will be held at Westmoor Park on Friday, Sept. 15, from 6-9 p.m., traditionally sells out. Tickets are $100 per person and are available at Westmoor Park and Leisure Services (Town Hall, Room 128). A printable ticket form can be found in PDF form below.
