The grassroots West Hartford organization Friends of Feeney will hold its 100th podcast celebration at Playhouse on Park in West Hartford on Feb. 12.

Eric Feeney’s mantra is “Be a Good Friend,” and the grassroots nonprofit organization that is the evolution of what was originally the Wolcott Elementary School third grade teacher’s desire to help the family of a student, continues to make a positive impact on the West Hartford community.

A few years ago, Feeney expanded his positive messaging through a podcast where he engages in conversation with members of the community on a variety of topics, always talking about friendship and giving back. On Monday, Feb. 12, Feeney will record his 100th podcast – live – during a special event that doubles as a fundraiser and will be held at West Hartford’s Playhouse on Park.

A pre-show reception will begin at 5:30 p.m., and the live podcast will begin at 7 p.m.

The pre-show reception will feature food from DORO Catering & Events, beer from WeHa Brewing & Roasting, and additional adult beverages provided by Maximum Beverage. There will also be Friends of Feeney merchandise available for sale, and a raffle for fun prizes.

Guests on the 100th podcast will include actor Frank Whaley, Park Road Association Co-Presidents Tracy Flater and Johnny Paindiris, and Chris Conway and Kate Kobs from West Hartford Chamber of Commerce. Town Historian Tracey Wilson will be hosting a West Hartford Trivia segment – and there will be a surprise musical performance, Feeney said.

General admission tickets to the event are $25 (plus a $2.50 processing fee), and 100% of the proceeds will benefit Friends of Feeney.

Space is limited, and tickets can be purchased online at www.PlayhouseOnPark.org.

Feeney spreads his positive message at the Park Road Parade and anywhere and everywhere he can. “#BeAGoodFriend” has been turned into a hashtag – one that appears on car magnets, sweatshirts, hats, and even as a mural on the side of an Elmwood business. The 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization continues to help children and families that need assistance after heartbreak and tragedy.
