West Hartford’s 17th Annual Park Road Parade was held on Saturday, Oct. 18, 2014.

West Hartford’s annual Park Road Parade has become an iconic event for the town – a day when Park Road is closed to regular traffic while floats, bands, clowns, dogs, cartwheelers, fife and drum corps, dancers, and even a Zamboni represent 100 different groups all celebrating the vast diversity of the town while parading the mile-long route.

State and local politicians, including Gov. Dannel Malloy and Lt. Gov. Nancy Wyman – in her signature high heels – led off the parade. ESPN anchor Jay Harris served as grand marshal. “Santa Claus” brought up the rear. There were two contingents of dogs (Corner Pug and Hartford Obedience Training Club), great music of all genres, and smiling spectators. Many Park Road, Design District, and Elmwood businesses also participated. Click here for more details about participants.

Dedication of the Richard Patrissi Memorial Clock followed the parade. [To read that story, click here.]
