Fourteen West Hartford residents were among the 45 students inducted into Northwest Catholic High School’s World Language Honor Societies on May 26.

Christina Gluch ’17 and Elleana Paradise ’17 were inducted into the Latin Honor Society, while Sean Keating ’17, Jack Ruddat ’17 and Brian Waterston ’17 were inducted into the Chinese Honor Society.

Katelyn Konigsberg ’17, Theadora Petropoulos ’17 and Valeria Seymour ’17 were inducted into the French Honor Society. Jenna Creighton ’17, Louis De Benoist ’17, Maeve Kearns ’17, Kaitlin McGuire ’16, Natalie Smith ’17 and Angel Zohrabian ’17 were all inducted into the Spanish Honor Society.

Guest speaker Mary Turbert Roberts ’96, Northwest Catholic’s Director of Leadership, told the students, “Being able to communicate effectively in any language is the most important of all life skills.” She added, “It is only through understanding other languages that we can hope to get close to understanding how people think.”

To qualify for membership, students had to be juniors or seniors carrying a 4.0 average in the language they study, as well as a minimum 3.0 average in all other classes. Of the 45 inductees, 24 were inducted into the Spanish Honor Society, eight into the Latin Honor Society, seven into the Chinese Honor Society and seven into the French Honor Society. One student, Emilia Palascak ’17, was inducted into both the Chinese and French Honor Societies.

A complete list of students is available at www.northwestcatholic.org.

Since 1961, Northwest Catholic’s mission has been to educate the whole person: mind, body, spirit, and soul. Enrollment for the Class of ’20 is now under way. For more information, contact Andrew Selig (860-236-4221, x140 or [email protected]).
