Good Cause Gifts, the social enterprise mission of Futures, Inc., will have a holiday pop-up store in West Hartford this December.
Good Cause Gifts, a division of Futures, Inc., will bring their fabulous collection of women’s clothing and accessories to Future’s Inc. headquarters location at 902 South Quaker Lane in West Hartford for a one-day pop-up store on Friday, Dec. 13, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
Known for their fashion-forward women’s clothing, Good Cause Gifts also carries an extensive line of home accessories, children’s clothing, and jewelry. It will be the perfect opportunity to get some holiday shopping done at a business with a mission to train people with disabilities to be able to work in retail and contribute to their communities.
Good Cause Gifts, a model for social enterprise, was founded in 2009 by a dedicated group of parents from Berlin, CT, who were seeking ways for their family members with a disability to contribute to their community.
Today, Good Cause Gifts employs more than 20 individuals with disabilities as sales associates across two attractive gift shop locations – one in the heart of Berlin and the other at New Britain’s Hospital for Special Care.
Sales associates earn competitive wages while learning the skills necessary for employment in retail settings.
Both stores offer a unique array of fine gifts, clothing and accessories.
Futures Inc. also operates a school at 1030 New Britain Ave. that successfully provides students with intellectual and physical disabilities a one-on-one educational experience that includes a strong hands-on focus on job training for positions in the community.
Plans are underway to open a permanent retail location for Good Cause Gifts in West Hartford in the spring.
