It was a great night for the senior night game, perfect crisp fall weather, not enough bite to scare away fans.

In fact, there was a large crowd on both sides of the turf for this game. Ringing an especially large crowd in on the Hall side since it was senior night. The stands were littered with fans and many were up at the fence cheering for their respective team.

All seniors were put in to start the game, a nice tribute to recognize the culmination of 4 years of hard work. As soon as the buzzer sounded they jumped straight into action, most of the match was played in the center in the first half. Throughout the game Hall remained in possession of the ball but Northwest Catholic wouldn’t allow for any goals.

Northwest Catholic took their first and only shot on goal in the first half, but they were not successful.

During the game, the Hall bench intently watched and supported their team, while some of the Northwest players were doing drills on the sidelines. Hall played numerous players from the bench providing opportunities for team members, while Northwest had fewer substitutions. At one point in the second half of the game a Northwest player crashed into Hall’s coach, but all was good as it was obviously not intentional.

There was one moment where it appeared as though Hall had scored a goal, but it got disallowed due to goalkeeper interference. This was not only disappointing for the players but especially the crowd, who had been rallying louder and louder as the game went on begging for a goal.

When the players returned for the second half Hall immediately seized possession of the ball, only crossing onto their side of the field a few times. Hall was hungry and ruthless with their attempts for a goal.

Northwest knew what to do though, they sat back and wouldn’t let them score hoping to run down the clock.

In an interview after the game, Hall head coach Zeke Seguro reflected on the scoreless game and the game of soccer.

“It was just one of those days,” Hall head coach Zeke Seguro said after the game. “It can be cruel.”

Tying with Northwest Catholic wasn’t the result Hall was hoping for. Coach Seguro remarked that although they did not lose, the team was “not happy with the result because we know we should have gotten a result”. He noted that the issues in the game weren’t necessarily shooting issues, but rather “about having the composure” to be able to score.

Northwest Catholic was extremely happy with this tie, they rushed the field and their sidelines erupted. Hall was much more mellow having a tinge of disappointment as a win on senior night would’ve been nice.

They do have more chances to win in the future though as this was not their last game.

“Sometimes things aren’t going to go your way, but you’ve got to keep fighting through it,” said Seguro, excited to have other opportunities to play.

Hall will play Conard Monday night at Conard High School. The opponent teams will begin at 6 p.m. on Oct. 26 for their big rivalry match.
