Hall Seniors Named National Merit Scholar Semifinalists and Commended Students

Members of West Hartford’sHall High School Class of 2022 have been recognized as National Merit Commended Students and Semifinalists.

Dan Zittoun, Principal of William H. Hall High School, announced the 25 students who have been named Commended Students in the 2022 National Merit Scholarship Program. These recipients are: Abhinav Aitha, Pranav Binoj, Brooke Birbara, John Brand, Andrew Chang, Sophia Cornicello, Brady Dulitsky, Ruth Dunlap, Samuel Foxman, Sophia Friedman, David Gardner, Emma Kingwell, August Kittleson, Eashwar Krishna, Sophie Kudler, Jared Maidman, Timothy Martin, Katherine Sanderson, Aaliska Sapkota, Liam Scully, Miranda Scully, Helena Shenk, Lauren Shilansky, Charles Wang, and Avery Woods Weber.

Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 scores of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2022 competition by taking the 2020 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).

Chang, Foxman, Gardner, Kingwell, Krishna, Kudler, and Wang have also been named National Merit Semifinalists. These students will have the opportunity to continue in the competition for National Merit Scholarship awards that will be offered next spring, and will be candidates for other scholarships, as well.

Representing less than 1 percent of the country’s high school seniors, Semifinalists are in the state’s highest-scoring students on the 2020 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).
