Renowned speaker Laura Stack, founder and CEO of Johnny’s Ambassadors will present an important talk on the dangers of high-potency marijuana products and their impact on youth mental health.

This special community event for parents, community members and concerned adults will take place on Monday, May 11 at 6 p.m. at Bristow Middle School, located at 34 Highland Street, West Hartford, CT. Hosted by the West Hartford Prevention Partnership, with the support of West Hartford Public Schools, Stack’s appearance is brought to the West Hartford community through a generous donation from a community member. Registration is required through this link.

Stack will share her personal story and the research behind her mission to educate parents and teens about the dangers of high-potency marijuana products. Attendees will learn about the harmful effects of THC on adolescent and teen brain development and the connection between adolescent marijuana use and mental illness. The seminar will also address the results of legalizing medical marijuana in Colorado, where suicide is now the #1 cause of death in youth ages 10-18, and THC is the most common substance found in their toxicology reports.

The increasing awareness of the dangers of high-THC marijuana and its effects on teens and young adults is evidenced by recent in-depth reporting by The New York Times (The New York Times Editorial Board (2026, February 9) “It’s Time for America to Admit It That It Has a Marijuana Problem”), Psychology Today (Gold, Mark S. M.D. (2026, February 22) “The Many Risks of Cannabis and High-Dose THC Use”), and The Wall Street Journal (Petersen, Andrea (2026, March 14) “Teenagers Have Easy Access to Cannabis. Science Says It’s Bad for Them”).\

“Today’s THC products are lab-designed, high-potency, and dangerous for the developing brains of young people,” says Laura Stack. “We must educate ourselves about the dangers of high-THC marijuana, and this seminar is an opportunity for parents and community members to learn more about the issue.”
