The Mandell JCC will say goodbye to summer with its Centennial Summer Birthday Bash – a free, fun-filled family send off at their summer site, The Swim & Tennis Club, 4 Duncaster Rd., Bloomfield, CT, on Sunday, Aug. 30, 2015, from 4 – 7 p.m. The event is a part of the Mandell JCC’s Centennial events and is free and open to the community.
Greater Hartford families are invited to soak up the last golden rays of sweet summertime and celebrate The Mandell JCC’s Centennial with a variety of activities for all ages. Bash-goers can bring friends and family to enjoy live music, food trucks, inflatables, lawn games and relax by the pool.
Various local food trucks such as Artisan Caterers, Chubby Chickpea, CM Concessions, Cup Cake Brake, Rita’s Ices and Toasted will be in attendance with meals and snacks that are available for purchase. Food, water, and soft drinks from the trucks and the Swim Club Snack Bar will be available to purchase throughout the day, with various HKC options. The event is BYOB.
Live music will also be a part of the celebration featuring local favorite, Lonesome Eddie and the Bird Dogs and Uconn a cappella groups, Rubyfruit and Conn Men.
The entertainment continues with oversized lawn games such as Human Foosball, Kerplunk, and Jenga as well as water-themed inflatables, a community art project, and poolside fun.
Guests are also encouraged to enjoy all of the facilities at the Swim Club, including asphalt and har-tru tennis courts, two playscapes, shuffleboard, gaga pit, tetherball, and of course, an Olympic-sized pool with slide and a kiddie pool for wading.
Parking and shuttles will be available beginning at 3:30 p.m. at the Ocean State Job Lot Plaza, 20 Mountain Ave., Bloomfield, CT. The shuttles will run continuously from the plaza to The Swim & Tennis Club throughout the duration of the event. Handicapped parking will also be available at The Swim & Tennis Club only with valid permit, sticker, or license.
In the case of inclement weather, the Summer Birthday Bash will be held indoors at the Mandell JCC, Zachs Campus, 335 Bloomfield, Avenue.
