State Rep. Jillian Gilchrest announced on Jan. 24 that she is running for re-election to the Connecticut General Assembly.

“I’m proudly announcing my intention to seek a third term as your state representative,” Gilchrest said. “Since you sent me to the Capitol in 2018, I have gone to work for you every day. From passing paid family and medical leave to standing up for reproductive choice, to expanding access to voting and working to prevent gun violence, I am proud of the results that we’ve delivered for West Hartford and Connecticut.”

“My role is to represent the needs and interests of West Hartford residents in Hartford – and I am deeply grateful to those who have come to me after personal tragedies and asked for my help in making sure that what happened to them, never happens to anyone else. It’s why I’ve championed legislation to make life-saving medication more affordable and support families after the loss of a loved one, such as An Act Concerning Certain Health Carriers and Pharmacy Benefits Managers from Employing Copay Accumulator Programs and An Act Concerning Travel Insurance and Suicide.

“Thank you for trusting in me.” Gilchrest concluded, “During the 2022 campaign I look forward to meeting residents at their doors and in the community. I would love your vote in November!”

Jillian Gilchrest is a leading progressive voice in Connecticut’s legislature. A champion of women’s health and safety, Jillian chairs the state’s Trafficking in Persons Council, Women & Children’s Health Subcommittee of the Medical Assistance Program Oversight Council, and Breast Cancer Awareness Working Group. She established an Endometriosis Working Group to bring greater awareness to the disease and access to care. Jillian has sponsored legislation to expand access to reproductive health in Connecticut by preventing false advertising at Crisis Pregnancy Centers and expanding Medicaid coverage to twelve months postpartum.
