Sharon Gaskin, most recently Associate Dean of Admissions at Elon University School of Law, has been named Kingswood Oxford’s new Director of Enrollment Management. She began work on Aug. 24, 2015.

Gaskin, a native of North Carolina, holds a BA in French and Education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a JD from Campbell University School of Law in Raleigh.

From 2007-14, she held positions of increasing responsibility at Elon’s law school, which opened in 2006. In addition to reviewing applications and interviewing candidates, Gaskin also introduced processes that reduced paper and increased efficiency, managed strategic planning, developed enrollment and retention models, created prospective student events, and increased the school’s social media presence.

And, she was influential in boosting the diversity of Elon’s student body by more than 100 percent over three years. She was often tapped as a speaker at national law school admissions conferences.

“Sharon brings an impressive, unique, and versatile background as well as exceptional leadership to our already strong admissions office, and at a wonderful moment, as we begin the year at full capacity,” said Head of School Dennis Bisgaard. “I am thrilled that she has joined the KO family.”

Before working at Elon, Gaskin taught middle and high school French in Greensboro, NC, for five years and ran her own law practice for ten years. Since 2009, she’s also been an adjunct professor at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University.

“I’m excited to join the senior administrative team at KO, and I look forward to working at an independent school,” said Gaskin. “I’m eager to apply the experience and skills I developed in higher ed admissions here at this outstanding institution.”

Gaskin and her son Karlton, a rising freshman at Kingswood Oxford, live in Farmington; her daughter Kayla is finishing her high school career at Greensboro Day School, where she is senior class president.

Classes will begin at KO on Sept. 2 with 508 students – one of the largest enrollments in recent years.

Interviews for September 2016 enrollment will begin on Sept. 21, 2015; for information or to schedule a tour or interview, please contact the Admissions Office at 860-727-5000 or [email protected].
