Kingswood Oxford Girls’ Varsity Soccer took on a very talented Pomfret School squad on October 15th on the annual Hewett Day – a KO tradition where all KO teams play at home in front of scores of red-and-black-clad families, friends, and alumni.

On this stunning Saturday afternoon, KO found itself on the scoreboard first thanks to the hard work and pure determination of senior captain Sam March ’17, a forward from Glastonbury. KO’s lead didn’t last for long and Pomfret looked to dominate much of every position on the field. Down one to two at the half, KO dug deep and committed to working as hard and as smart as possible for the final 40 minutes.

March set up Noa Boyd ’18 of West Hartford on defense to tie the score two-two early in the second half. KO wasn’t complacent with a tie and remained patient in the attack. And, unsurprisingly, March found the back of the net with five minutes remaining to give KO the win. The second half showed the potential of this team and what they are capable of doing when they stick together as a tenacious, cohesive unit.

Kingswood Oxford Girls’ Varsity record now stands at 6-4-1 with five more games remaining in the season.

The preeminent independent co-ed, college preparatory day school in Greater Hartford, Kingswood Oxford School is located just steps from Blue Back Square and West Hartford Center. Its 502 students come from 62 towns in CT and western MA as well as China and South Korea.
