To the Editor:
As the current state representative for the 19th District, I know what it takes to serve the people of West Hartford, Avon and Farmington. Derek Slap has what it takes.
When I decided not to seek reelection, I met with Derek and was struck by his energy and commitment to issues important to the people of our district and state – issues he has learned about directly from the thousands of voters he has met with and listened to while knocking doors across our towns. I also was impressed by Derek’s in-depth knowledge of how things work at the Capitol. This will enable him to avoid the usual learning curve of a new legislator and hit the ground running.
Derek also knows we have to be innovative and collaborative to solve our state’s problems. That’s why he is committed to continuing the innovative money-saving program I initiated called Lead By Example – a program that currently is saving the state and its taxpayers $10 million per year by retrofitting state buildings to make them more energy efficient – and to looking for additional efficiencies and cost-saving measures that will help us balance the state budget.
Please vote for Derek Slap on November 8th.
