To the Editor:

As a former member of the West Hartford Town Council – and the first woman of color ever elected to serve – I know that our community’s strength comes from leaders who listen with empathy, act with integrity, and lead with grace. Grace is the quality that allows us to stand firm in our values while extending understanding to others.

Lisa Lazarus embodies that grace.

I have known Lisa for many years and have watched her work quietly yet purposefully to make a difference – in commercial real estate, health and wellness, and community development right here in West Hartford. She leads through service, showing up for neighbors, building relationships, and creating spaces where everyone feels valued.

As the daughter of immigrants, Lisa understands the importance of opportunity, hard work, and belonging. Those experiences have shaped her deep commitment to ensuring that West Hartford remains a welcoming, inclusive, and forward-thinking town.

Her campaign message – “Turning worry into work and choosing community over chaos” – perfectly reflects both her character and the spirit of West Hartford. She believes in collaboration over division, action over apathy, and grace over grievance.

Lisa represents the next generation of thoughtful leadership – focused on affordability, inclusion, and a strong, connected community. I am proud to endorse Lisa Lazarus for Town Council and invite you to join me in supporting her and the entire Row A Democratic slate on November 4.
